Some
people call me the miracle pup because in May of 2001, I had to have
surgery. I was diagnosed with Transitional Cell Carcinoma which is bladder
cancer. I went to a special surgeon and he removed half of my bladder.
I didn't feel good for a while after the surgery. I was taking a medication
called piroxicam,
but it made me feel very sick. I was also taking a stomach medication
(cytotec) for the side-effects but it didn't help me enough. My family
and my internist decided that they didn't want me feeling sick all of
the time, so I stopped taking the piroxicam. I
started feeling much better.
I
go for checkups and have ultrasounds taken of my bladder every once
in a while. I really don't like going back for check-ups but my parents
drag me there. I know that I am a very, very, very lucky dog!
